Hope had a brief racing career with just four starts before her trainer decided racing wasn't her path, as she simply lacked the desire to be a racehorse. She has a cold bow on her right front that occurred prior to her racing career. It was properly rehabilitated by her trainer, who subsequently raced her without any soundness concerns. Since arriving at the farm, Hope has remained completely sound and has never taken a lame step. Hope is blessed with exceptional feet and is currently maintained barefoot. She lives happily turned out with a small group of mares and is an easy, low-maintenance member of the herd. On the ground, Hope is a pleasure to handle. She stands quietly on cross-ties for bathing, grooming, clipping, veterinary care, and farrier appointments. She loads easily, trailers well, and has excellent manners. Sweet-natured and not mare-ish in the slightest, she enjoys attention, grooming sessions, and the occasional peppermint treat. She's easy to catch in the field and genuinely enjoys interacting with people. 7/19/25 Update: After enjoying some well-deserved downtime, Hope had her first ride off the track. Ridden in a loose-ring snaffle in an open field, she walked, trotted, and cantered quietly while navigating ground poles. For a first post-track ride, she was about as uncomplicated as they come. She offers a nice forward motor when asked, but is equally happy to come back and listen. The ride focused primarily on straightness and responsiveness to the leg, both of which she handled with a willing and cooperative attitude. Hope is a situational cribber, and I have only observed the behavior around feeding time. If not for a small ledge near her feed bucket, you would likely never know she cribs. Even that ledge shows minimal wear. She does not crib outdoors, on fences, or on buckets, and she is not maintained in a cribbing collar. To support her transition off the track, she completed a 30-day course of Omeprazole/Ranitidine with Sucralfate upon arrival at the farm. I also prioritize maximizing her turnout whenever weather permits, which she greatly enjoys. With her excellent temperament, solid start under saddle, and sensible outlook on life, Hope is ready to begin the next chapter of her career and develop into a wonderful partner in a variety of disciplines.
