Lovely 2015 Champagne Friesian Sport Horse Mare “Morro” For Sale. Selling as I am in the process of moving to another country. 6500$ or best offer, willing to make concessions to the right home. UTD on shots, teeth, barefoot. LIGHT RIDING/BROODMARE recommended. Purchased in 2024 from a ranch in CA with the intention of restarting and turning into a fun lower level ladies dressage horse. She was sold to me as the previous owners got a higher percentage friesian champagne filly, and did not need Morro anymore. I got about a year of professional training on her, she understands throughness, leg cues, back etc when she began to come up periodically lame. We narrowed it down to old scarring of the sesamoid ligament in her left front, acquired long before I purchased her (ultrasound on file and happy to share). I subsequently put her out to pasture for 8 months with no additional maintenance and only recently discovered she can still be lightly ridden comfortably. I have not “pushed it” (riding more than 30 mins 4-5 days in a row) but I imagine she would go lame again with intense riding. She is hot, but is still the same horse even after being unridden and basically unhandled for 8 months. She is very sweet but not a beginners horse. No buck/rear/bite, but will shy away from things she’s not sure of. This is always telegraphed well in advance, no dirty spooks from her. I think her ideal home is with someone who would like to breed her, and have a spare horse they can take out when needed for a light ride. She’s very easy to keep, barefoot, lives outside 24/7 on grass hay in a slow feeder. She’s lived outside with mares and geldings and is bottom of the herd once she settles in. I give her gut supper on hay pellets as “grain”. Loads and trailers perfectly. Bathes. Not a fan of clippers. Happy to answer any questions and I have videos of her under saddle both now and last year. I welcome and encourage PPE/ repro exams, there is a large equine hospital 20 mins from my barn with many vets to choose from.
