He will WTC in the ring. Happy to pop over logs on the trail. Rides out with my very exuberant dog. Lots of exposure to cattle. Rides the same in cold, wind, and sideways rain. He can be ridden every day or sit for a few days and still be step on and go. After the artic tundra shut our riding down for two months, I stepped on him one day and went hacking out. He is safe, kind, and very dependable. Forward without being hot. Responsive without being overly sensitive to the aids and absolutely knows the word “WOAH”. He is comfortable and takes up leg without being too wide. At 5’8” I feel great on him! He also line drives and drives around the farm, being easy to harness and hitch. Pookie has been started out Foxhunting behind hounds. He loads and trailers to the meet beautifully. He steps off, takes in the sites, and walks confidently around at the meet and is steady when the tailgate drops and hounds come out. He was unbothered by hounds coming from behind/the sides, whip cracking, and staff cantering by. He has the tools and the mindset to make a lovely hunter. He watched hounds work with a loopy rein and was agreeable to more and less contact throughout the day. On the ground, Pookie is the best. He loads, trailers, clips, ties, crossties, bathes, and handles well in all regards. He has a great, very friendly personality. He is easy to catch and does well in his stall and in turnout. This is a lovely horse for an amateur looking for something fun and safe to foxhunt, trail ride, hunter pace, lesson, and have a dependable partner that makes riding fun.
