Darwin is a good-sized very flashy dark bay crossbred gelding, not too tall not too short, who can fit a variety of riders and do a variety of disciplines and is at a great age in life. He is a very sane gelding with an unflappable type temperament, but not lazy or ploddy, he responds well to leg and seat aids and will move out readily when asked. He has plenty of stamina for foxhunting, eventing, or endurance riding if that is your jam, or he can be used for dressage, trails, lessons, or even driving or CDE. He can go in a number of directions. He rides more similar to a TB or warmblood in that he is fairly light-going and has plenty of speed if asked, but is very rateable with excellent brakes. He has a soft mouth and rides in a snaffle. He is not spooky at all that I have seen and he has never offered to buck, rear, bolt or do any nonsense under saddle - he has a good brain and wants to please and has a solid, great work ethic. He does not seem to be the type of horse who will try to take advantage and has an amateur-friendly disposition. In my opinion Darwin would make a lovely horse for an AA or teenaged rider to have fun with. He could also be a very valuable & reliable lesson horse once adjusted to your program. He is well-mannered and calm on the ground, easy to catch, and easy to handle and easy to have around. He is tidy in his stall, has no vices, and gets along well with other horses. He is well-behaved for farrier, vet & dentist. He recently had his teeth floated, and is UTD on vaccines, deworming, coggins, and farrier. He has very good feet with strong hoof quality and good shape, and he is currently shod in front shoes but could try barefoot if wanted. Darwin has no notable blemishes on body or legs, and he has no prior soundness issues, injuries, or health conditions and he does not receive maintenance. He has a sweet and very kind personality and wants to please. His training has been as diverse as he is, he is trained to drive, he has been started over fences (and shows plenty of scope), we have taken him on off-property trail rides which he enjoys, and he is getting started in dressage fundamentals. Off-property, he loads on the trailer and ships well, and he is a very fun ride for outings and seems like he would enjoy attending events like hunter paces and shows. 57l 289 2947
