Abilene is a 9 year old Gypsy Drum mare standing 15.3/16 hands high. She is the type that catches everyone’s eye, no matter where you go. And you can go absolutely anywhere with her. She is a joy both in the saddle, and on the ground. You’ll first fall in love with her dreamy personality and lovable nature, and then when you climb into the saddle you’ll fall in love again with how safe and sturdy, she makes every ride feel. She’s a horse that every member of your family will love and enjoy for years to come. Even the non-riders in your family will want to come to the barn just to spend time with her. She is truly a love that is so gentle, kind, and sweet with everyone she meets.

Abilene loves to trail ride! Whether you like a bareback stroll with a halter and lead rope, or to saddle up and go out to the mountains; Abilene is up for any adventure. She is sure footed, smart, and unbothered by the usual “spooky” things. She is safe around freight trains, tractor trailers, bikes, atvs, and more. She crosses water, climbs up banks, crosses bridges, rides around with livestock, and will go anywhere you ask her to. Animals jumping out, dogs running around, loud noises, a windy day, are nothing for her to blink an eye at. Take her out alone and feel safe or go out in a group and have the most talked about horse on the trail ride! The kids ride double with us all over, and we trust her to keep everyone safe! She’s the same sweet girl in all environments and just enjoys being out and about with her people.

In the ring, Abilene is so comfortable and smooth! There aren’t many horses of her stature that ride as comfortably as she does! She will go English or western, has great brakes, and is definitely a slow and steady type. She is happy to pop over fences on hunter paces or on the cross country field too! The kids have their friends over and she is everyone’s first choice to take turns chasing calves on! She is equal parts fun, trustworthy, and steady.

In the barn, Abilene is the star of the show. The second anyone steps into the barn they take one look at her and are immediately drawn to her stall. At trail rides, or in town, we have cars stop and pull over just to ask us about her. She is the center of attention and loves to be! She will stand for hours to be groomed, scratched, braided and doted on. She has impeccable ground manners and is a good girl for all of the usual barn activities.

Abilene is an easy keeper that’s happy living inside or out. The best part about her is that she can be stuck in a stall for a few days or hanging out in the pasture for weeks on end and go out on a ride and be just as safe and reliable as if she’d been going every day. It is a true joy to have her in our barn.
