I bought this mule at the Reese Brother's Premier Mule Auction in TN. She's had a year of gentle unwinding on 13 acres, with a herd of 4 other horses, and still, she's too much for me. She is a stunning mover, and can be friendly, but equally is aloof. Some days she knows the program, some days she prefers to be 100 ft away from me. The space has been great for her. I pulled her shoes (she came shod) myself, at liberty (not even a halter on her) and other days, if I go to pick up her feet, she acts like her hair is on fire. If you know mules she's probably the perfect mule. But she's my first mule. I have three other 3 yr olds (mustang, arab, appaloosa) and I have done just fine training and raising my other youngsters. Mulene arrived as a 2 yr old with "60 days under saddle" from the Amish. I paid $5,000 for her. I don't know what her horse side is. At the auction, I saw her ridden into the arena, I saw her do the large arena obstacle course. Her feet were overgrown and shod. Three farriers said NOPE. I ended up pulling them myself. She's never kicked me. I have trimmed her for the year she's been here. "Today" she said you can't get within 10' of my hooves or I will tear down this city. I don't understand how mules can be hot and cold. I just know I can't make forward progress with my level of horsemanship. You must have a trainer or know mules. She's marked low price for an uncomplicated sale. I've written about as honest an ad as I can. She's VERY pretty. She has white ticking coming through, sooty brindling/spotting coming through on her hind end, and a couple of lighter palomino dapples. Odd markings. Maybe she has appaloosa in her and her spots are just starting to show? Her mane is flaxen, her tail is flaxen and silver. She has a great personality. She is not aggressive in the slightest. She is super smart. She was roached, neck clipped, ears clipped, and shod when I bought her. I've had 30+ horses in my life, I've had stallions, mustangs, etc. and this was my first mule. I'm not enough for her. I can admit that. Anyone can email me for videos, or friend me on Facebook and peruse a year of content. She even let me approach her while she was laying down and give her itches. She's lovely with my other horses. Get along very well in a herd. Again, she rode into a roundpen, calmly and freely with auctioneers hollering (and other mules came unglued in that environ) and she handled it like a curious baby should: logical and taking it all in. But she's not for me.
