Ready for her career to start! Lola (registered as UF PotentiallySnippy) is Flo-Born & raised. Foaled at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2021, this girl is well-adapted to the heat and adds her own flame & flair when asked. Her genetics have a little bit of everything – Reining, Halter, Cutting, Western Pleasure. Plenty of money-winners in both top and bottom side in multiple disciplines. She has a lovely trot and lope and with some refinement, could really be a show-stopper. Lola came to us very green (as all UF swamp-sale babies do) but she was so eager to learn and still is. She is very confident with cows and has been trained and refined by Grady Fortner in Williston, FL. Grady and his assistant Chelsea have put all the buttons on her for ranch work so she works almost entirely on leg cues and neck reining. Lola has some experience traveling to shows so she is comfortable around other horses not from her herd. Lola has been on trails in most of the Goethe State Park and over Greenway Landbridge overpass over I-75, which she handled like a pro. She goes through water and over obstacles on trails like an old pro. One of the rides recently she was carrying my 65yo mother who hadn’t ridden a horse in almost a decade. Lola has also been taken to Rafter Cross Obstacle events and loves the problem-solving aspect of many of them. Where we see her excelling: Ranch Versatility and/or Working Cow Horse. She is loyal to her human partner and wants to do things correctly. While she will do almost anything asked under saddle regardless of rider, if you build a relationship with her and indulge her naturally-affectionate nature of loving being doted on, she will put her heart into the tasks even more. She loves to work and when she knows you, she anticipates your ‘ask’. Lola loves water and to be sprayed with a hose on hot days and thoroughly enjoys a bath after a good trail ride. Lola loads, ties, bathes, stands well for the farrier. She has always been barefoot, never needed shoes. Her temperament under saddle is very calm, wanting to please. In the pasture/herd, she is at about a 3rd spot ranking. She always wants and welcomes your attention and is easy to catch, no treats or bribery required. Lola has lived in 24-7 turnout/pasture with other mares since 2023 but has been in stalls occasionally and does fine in them. Lola does well on all types of hay and pasture grass but is currently on Tifton, occasionally getting alfalfa in various forms.
