Annika is a 12 yo, large bodied, Friesian/Lusitano cross mare, standing 15.3 hh. This exciting combination of breeds gives her the Friesian shoulder and neck set with tons of hair. Herog was 2023 USEF Horse of the Year IFSHA and Grand Champion Junior Exhibitor. Due to his phenomenal temperament he is known as "a saint" around the barn and Annika definitely inherited that gentle and affectionate temperament and loves her people. On the Lusitano side; Saphiro, through her dam line, gives her lighter movement. Saphiro won the ERAHC breed show Gold Medal for movement in the 2009 stallion classes and passed a copy of his cream gene (Cr) genetics to her, giving her a beautiful buckskin coat color. This quality mare turns heads wherever she goes!
She is very affectionate, smart, has exceptional ground manners, not mareish, gets along great with both mares and geldings, has amazing feet (has never had shoes) and is an easy keeper. Annika has show miles at Training level dressage with an adult amateur scoring in the high 60's up to 70's. Including winning champion at her local dressage schooling show series at Training level in 2024. She is currently schooling nice leg yields and shoulder in as well, in preparation for moving up the levels. She is light in the bridle and beautifully responsive to the aids. She hacks out alone or in a group. If you like natural horsemanship style groundwork she was thoughtfully started by a Parelli trainer as a young horse and still remembers how to play the games and school similar groundwork. You could even put that cream gene to work in a breeding program if you wanted to try for some color.
