Marie is a 14hh sorrel mare with a star, born April 21, 2007. Her registered name is CODYS DIAMOND SPARKS (AQHA). Her sire is a registered quarter horse DOC SPARKYS POCO (AQHA) and out of registered mare TOPSAILS BAR MISS (AQHA). She is barefoot and UTD on vaccines, farrier, deworming, teeth float, and Coggins. She is breeding sound and has proven to be a great mother to her foals. She is selling open, we didn't try breeding her this year. She has a calm demeanor and is very friendly to all age ranges. She is on pasture 24/7 but requires a small amount of grain to maintain body condition in the winter months.
She has been at SIU since 2014 and has held multiple jobs as a reliable teaching horse. We have used her in riding classes, on field trips, student labs, etc. She has been artificially inseminated as well as pasture bred, and normally takes on the first try. She has had all textbook pregnancies and raises healthy babies. She is good with needles, stands well for farrier, loads and unloads, is calm in a stall and ties well. She is great with beginners as well as knowledgeable horseman.
She has been a wonderful mare and a favorite to many students. Moving forward in our program, we are trying to decrease our average herd age, and are therefore looking for a good home for this sweet girl.
