Tuco has a heart of gold and will follow you anywhere, no halter or lead required! He is excellent at that. He always comes to the gate when you call, and I have never had to chase him to collect him, no matter how big the area he is roaming in. He is extremely brave. If he sees an object he is unfamiliar with, I just tell him to ‘touch’ and he will. (He does like a treat for his bravery, though lol!) He can play kickball with you (kicks the large horse ball), take the giant teddy bear for a ride, collect treats out of mailboxes, and follows me as I wildly wave flags around him. He stands excellently for the farrier and for grooming.
This horse can truly do it all. English, Western, liberty, trail riding, equitation, dressage, shows, parades, Renaissance fairs, whatever you fancy. He has not been taught to jump, but he loves doing it, so there could be potential for that as well. He has a big motor and will use it if you want him to. He listens very attentively as you ride, and he truly tries to please you with what you ask of him. He works off of your leg cues quickly and easily. He is extremely willing and can respond easily to what you ask of him. His personality is the best! He is extremely friendly, and everybody loves him, including the kids. He is an easy keeper and gets along very well with other horses. He is usually the peacemaker of the herd.
Tuco was trained for about a year by a well-known trainer in the Midwest, Dallas Schleg, who specializes in working equitation. Here is what he has to say about him: Horses like Tuco come along once every lifetime or so. Some people may compare him to other great equine legends like Alexander the Great’s Bucephalus, Napoleon Bonaparte’s Marengo, or Hercules’ Pegasus! Tuco has been hauled to and ridden for jousting, rodeos, trail rides, renaissance fairs, and other play-days! He is well seasoned to all the traffic of vehicles, other horses, cattle, and even buffalo. Tuco has the handle of a true bridle horse and is soft and supple in your hand, and also moves softly and quietly off your leg cues. He has an excellent turnaround and amazing side passes! In his videos, you can see him ride through a course set up for working equitation, as well as with a garrocho pole.
