nelsonranchhorses.com Magic is a classy blood bay 6-year-old AQHA gelding. We have owned him since he was 2 years old, and doesn't need a large amount of riding to stay at his best. He has always been good natured, easy and fun to work with. Magic became Alice’s favorite horse to ride because he was short enough for her to get on by herself from a side hill. He would stand patiently and wait for her to climb on. He stands 14.3 + 1/2" barefoot and trimmed. Even when Alice was little, I never had to warm him up for her. I would just put her saddle on early in the morning, and off we would go to work cattle. She would say he was just the right amount of “whoa and go.” She could do anything with him, from riding off alone, picking out his feet, trailer loading, and riding in town to handling highway traffic. Magic is cowy, and together they have trailed and helped work thousands of head of cattle. Magic will ride in a halter, hackamore, or bit. He has a good neck rein, backs, side-passes, opens gates, has a nice easy lope-off, and takes both leads. He is always up for adventure and exploring new places and is good with wildlife, dead-fall, and steep terrain. Gentle, gentle, but not lazy, he rides to the rider’s level. We bought him because of his disposition with less than 10 outside rides. From the very start he has been a horse anybody can get along with and he has never put a hump in his back, even when he was started as a colt. In the spring and summer as a 3 yr old Curt worked a lot of cattle on him, Alice (then 6yrs old) started riding him a limited amount that fall so he became familiar with kids. Ever since he was started you can turn him out for several months and he comes in broke and as cool as the last time he was ridden. With time off he never gets hot or spookie. He catches anywhere without treats, even out in a herd of horses. Has never had any health or soundness issues.Magic has stayed gentle and safe whether it's windy, below zero, raining, in town or on the ranch & has been ridden in our indoor barn, he is an anybody-can-ride and all-around family horse and is truly exceptional with kids. He has a superficial scar on the front of his right forearm. Please call with any questions. We have additional photos and videos available.
