Looking for a horse with talent, brains, and just enough opinion to keep life interesting? Meet this 5-year-old Quarter Horse gelding who is ready for his next chapter. At 14.1hh, he's compact in size but convinced he's at least 17 hands. He has completed his basic foundation in both English and Western disciplines and recently finished two months of professional training in Portola Valley. He's a nice mover, has a pretty face, a good brain, and genuinely enjoys having a job. He was originally started by an 80-year-old trainer who believed horses should have good manners before fancy resumes. Over the years he's been ridden by supervised children, my 19-year-old son, my 60-year-old sister, and even an 88-year-old cowboy. He has a sensible mind, enjoys working, and generally approaches new experiences with curiosity rather than drama. He is not a beginner horse unless working with a trainer. He's still young and unfinished, needing more miles, consistency, and someone willing to continue his education. We're not pretending he's a finished, push-button horse—but he has all the right pieces. He has the foundation to go in a variety of directions (3-Day, Hunter Jumper, barrels) and is ready for someone who wants to put their own stamp on him. Whether you're looking for a versatile partner, a project with a solid start, or a horse to develop into your preferred discipline, he has plenty of potential and a strong work ethic. A few things he thinks are worth mentioning: Two months of professional training in Portola Valley Front shoes freshly done Sound and in good health Nice mover with a willing attitude Not spooky about farm equipment In fact, he seems to believe tractors are a challenge rather than a concern If you're looking for a horse that's small enough to fit in the trailer but big enough to fill the entire barn with personality, this might be your guy.
