Looking for that husband safe, reliable and easy going trail horse? He was even ridden by a wonderful special needs girl by previous owner! If that doesn’t testify to his personality, I won’t know what will. ᴡʜɪsᴋᴇʏ is a personal horse I’ve owned for the last three years that was purchased to be my boyfriends first horse and my beginner/children lesson horse, he has been WONDERFUL to us, but I no longer offer children lessons and my boyfriend is totally out of riding so he is sitting outside of his leaser. Whiskey is a 2005/2006 model GRADE Standardbred/Quarter horse cross gelding standing roughly 15HH. In this guys case, age is simply a number. Load up, hit the trails and go all day with or without friends! Although extremely basic broke in the arena, he is safe. Walk, trot, canters, and gaits out. Whiskey is not finished in his gait and will struggle to hold it while coming into work, but once being worked consistently 3/4 days a week, he holds it well. Per all my horses, whiskey has an extremely reliable and consistent stop. He very mildly neck reins/moves off leg, but absolutely FAR from truly. Outside of the arena is where whiskey thrives, truly he is not an arena horse and it shows. He hates arena work and will NOT fit into a lesson program. Once you leave the arena, his ears are forward and he’s ready to go! (Very slowly and calmly, lol!) Whiskey will cross water, swamps, slick mud, climbs just about anything, easily crosses over fallen branches/logs (will jump if asked), crosses bridges, easily goes up, down and through rough terrain, off roads and is overall a very straight forward ride with thousands of miles under his belt. Along with trail riding, he also road rides wonderfully (primary riding at home.) Whiskey will move aside and stop almost 100% by himself for passing vehicles without fuss. He will stand until asked forward or will move out after the vehicle has passed. Trucks, cars, semis, buses, bikes, truly anything can pass him and not phase him what so ever. Whiskey hard ties absolutely all day. Crossed or straight. Picks up all four feet himself, stands for saddling, bridling, (undoing as well), loads (straight or slant), fly sprays, stands to be bathed, pony’s other horses/colts, rides bareback and in a rope halter, easy to catch in any size pasture (once in a blue moon he’ll get a bug up his butt and show you how fast and “young” he is), perfect around dogs, barn cats, children, he has pulled carts in his past and although not with me, I’ve hooked a dolly up to him and sleds in the winter! Overall, he does everything asked of him. He is a literal saint. High/Middle pecking order, NOT a bully. Very easy keeper and ZERO maintenance. Trimmed every 6 weeks, completely barefoot. ᴡʜɪsᴋᴇʏ’s only cons is he can be a tad barn sour, but truly a little swat to his butt will get him going. He rarely refuses to leave the property, but sometimes eating is higher on his prior
