Looking for your next barrel prospect? Heck, I can see this girl hitting the ranch classes. Versatile is the best way to describe Pepper.
Registered AQHA, 7yo mare, 14.1-14.2HH and stocky.
Simply due to life changes with her owner, is the only reason Pepper is available for sale. Absolutely zero fault to her own.
To the point. Pepper is sensitive, NOT reactive or spooky, just sensitive. I slapped a fly off her in the pasture when she first arrived and she took it personal. Has become a TAD hard to catch with me, but perfectly fine for anyone else. When I slap a fly off her when she’s caught though, she’s fine.
Kick her accidentally on the butt when mounting? She’ll tuck and scoot forward. Not bolting, but does scoot forward.
Pepper is also best suited to be pastured with mares only. She has a tendency to get buddy sour with geldings. Still rides off solo, but is unfocused.
NONE of this is malicious, girl just knows what she likes, doesn’t and how she wants to be treated. She is NOT mareish, again, just a little sensitive.
The goods. Pepper is SWEET, quiet and very straight forward. Catch, get on and go.. literally. I’ve taken Pepper down the road for her FIRST time ever today and she walked away from home without fuss, stood for vehicles and didn’t spook at anything. Peppers spook is a spook in place, speaking of. No bolt, buck, spin. Just a hard spook in place.
Pepper rides off in the arena solo, walk, trot, canters, piviots, mild side pass, collects, softens nose to both sides, picks up shoulder, engages hind quarters and has a very nice stop. She also backs without fuss.
Currently, Pepper is walk, trot and cantering the pattern. Although not heavily drilled, she has caught on quickly and is already trying to do it herself. I asked for a higher canter today and she did it flawlessly. I could foresee her being more on the free style side once finished. She’s confident, but not cocky!
Peppers owner put a lot of foundation on her patterning, it’s slow and correct. This mare should NOT blow up at any point in time and is ALREADY easily handy youth suitable.
If you decided to go a different route then barrels, I could seriously see this girl going ALL directions. Hell, throw an English saddle on her and go over cross rails if you want. She has a slow enough trot and lope, that with some fine tuning, I could also see her hit the open western pleasure classes.
Pepper stands (straight or crossed), picks up all four feet, stands for farrier, vet, grooming and saddling. Takes a bridle effortlessly and stands for mounting. She trailers very well, but DOES need more hauling under her belt. She has limited.
Pepper has ZERO maintenance and is easy/mid keeper. She does best on a roundbale 24/7. Currently fed all forage.
