Siberian Bars is a striking 5-year-old, 16.2 hand registered Friesian gelding with an exceptional temperament, a thoughtful mind, and a solid foundation. He was originally purchased as a trail horse for my husband, but shortly afterward my husband unexpectedly received another horse as a gift. With five horses between the two of us, I simply don't have enough time to continue developing Bars the way he deserves. His talents are being wasted, and he is ready for someone who wants to take him to the next level.
Since purchasing him, I have put many miles on him both in the arena and on the trail. He has been ridden alone, in groups, and on numerous ponying rides, giving him a wide variety of real-world experiences. He has also started regular training with Dressage naturally (TM) educator, receiving a correct, dressage-based foundation.
Bars is naturally quiet and very level-headed. He walks and trots confidently under saddle, has soft, reliable brakes, and is much more "whoa" than "go." One of my favorite qualities is how he handles new situations on the trail. If he encounters something unfamiliar, his instinct is to stop, stand tall, and investigate rather than bolt, rear, spin, or panic. During the time I have owned him, he has never offered those behaviors.
He stands quietly for mounting, loads easily, clips without issue, is barefoot and sound, and receives regular trims. He picks up all four feet well and has been trained to place them on a hoof stand. He is still developing patience for holding his feet for extended periods, so trims simply require a little extra time.
Bars also enjoys interacting with people and knows several fun tricks, including laying down on cue, fetching objects, and performing lateral movements from the ground.
Training Notes:
Bars is still a young horse with a green education. His biggest challenge is that he is naturally behind the leg in the arena. If ridden with excessive leg pressure, he tends to brace and become even slower rather than move forward. We have been addressing this through patient, correct dressage training that emphasizes timing and softness rather than stronger aids. Interestingly, this is far less noticeable on the trail, where he willingly keeps up with other horses and happily trots down the trail.
Because of his age and current stage of training, Bars is best suited for a confident, educated rider who enjoys developing young horses and appreciates a thoughtful, sensitive mind.
His pedigree includes respected KFPS sport bloodlines such as Dreis 421 Sport and Feike 395 Sport, with a low inbreeding coefficient of 1.17%. Although he is registered in the KFPS B-Book, he possesses the athleticism, beauty, and kind temperament that make Friesians such wonderful riding partners.
