We've had Rain for 4 years, and we have used her exclusively for trail riding. No clue if she's broke to drive but presumably not. 14-ish hh. She was 13.2 when we bought her at 6 yrs old, but she grew another couple inches. Pros: Great for the farrier, vet, dentist, fly sprays, fly boots, blankets easily, etc. Easy to catch (she catches you), even in our 15+ acre pasture. Loads great, and we've traveled 8 plus hours in the trailer without issues. Stands to saddle and bridle and we always use a britchen. Stands great for mounting. W/T/L, crosses water/logs, stereotypical sure-footedness, not spooky, ridden with loose dogs, etc. Independent/not herd bound or attached. Sweet as pie and LOVES people. Sound and sane. Cons: Doesn't like to back out the trailer - she strongly prefers to come out face first. She has bucked twice - once in 2024 and once in 2025. Both incidents were in the first 20 minutes of an organized ride (decent sized group of riders), and they seem to have been triggered by anxiety caused by all the hullabaloo that tends to be common at the beginning of those bigger rides. They're not big renegade bucks, and we've gotten back on both times and gone on to have a great ride the rest of the day. We can discuss this further for interested buyers, but we truly believe these incidents are easily fixed by a little more exposure to the larger groups. We just don't go to big rides very often. Please shoot me a message if you're interested, and I'd be happy to provide pictures.
