Archie – 6-Year-Old Gaited Spotted Saddle Horse
Archie is a 14.3 hand, DNA-tested Spotted Saddle Horse with a striking tobiano coat and a naturally smooth, comfortable gait. He has had two loving owners and has been consistently well maintained with up-to-date veterinary and dental care.
He is a SAFE experienced trail horse with a confident, sure-footed way of going. Archie has been used extensively on trails, obstacle courses, and water crossings, and has also been used to pony other horses. He has been ridden by adults and experienced youth riders. No rear, bolt or buck, when he doesn’t wanna do something, he simply backs up and waits for your guidance.
Archie is best suited for an experienced beginner or intermediate rider looking for a steady, dependable trail partner. He is willing, steady-minded, and enjoys having a job.
He is easy to handle and has solid, everyday ground manners. He stands quietly for the farrier, bathing, and tacking, and loads into the trailer & travels very well. He is comfortable around dogs, cats, and general barn activity, and remains calm in mixed environments. He is a “people horse” who meets you at the gate, is easy to catch (literally walks right up to me when I’m holding the halter) and enjoys attention.
In the herd, Archie is top of the pecking order (but I only have two others, one is old and the other has medical issues, so it didn’t take much to top, his previous Owner said he was in the middle of their bigger herd). He can be protective around feed with other horses present, but is easy to manage once understood. He is content being turned out alone or with others. On the trail, he’s amazing!.. He prefers to ride in the middle or back but will lead when asked.
Archie was barefoot in Canada and Tennessee. He is currently shod in front due to rocky California terrain, but has strong, healthy feet and may go barefoot again in lighter conditions.
I bought Archie to be my everyday trail horse b/c I didn’t think I’d ever be able to ride my horse again. But my other horse has since gotten well and I just cannot afford to own 3 horses in CA. We’ve only had him since January and will be extremely sad to see Archie go as he is a total love bug. Everyone who has ridden him has fallen in love.
