Offered to an exceptional home is Hen, a beautifully packaged 16-hand, 5-year-old registered Zangersheide mare.

Hen is by Valentino (KWPN), a renowned international show-jumping stallion who has produced numerous successful international show jumpers, including offspring competing through the 1.60m level. On the dam side, she is out of a mare by Hailo, a highly regarded Trakehner dressage stallion. Her pedigree also includes Now or Never M, Voltaire, Nimmerdor, and Belisar.

Hen has been amateur owned since she was two and was intentionally given time to mature before being started under saddle as a four-year-old. She has been developed thoughtfully, with an emphasis on creating a confident, capable, thinking horse.

For only five, Hen has a tremendous amount of life experience. She has been hauled dozens of times and is comfortable leaving home and working in unfamiliar environments. She has spent considerable time outside the arena and has been trail ridden through rocky Colorado terrain, navigating hills, rocks, uneven footing, and natural obstacles with confidence.

Hen shows exceptional natural athleticism and technique over fences, with a willingness and confidence that are difficult to teach. She particularly enjoys cross-country-style jumping and is brave and interested when presented with a new question. She asks all the right questions, learns quickly, and genuinely wants to understand what is being asked of her.

On the ground, Hen is a sweet, affectionate mare who enjoys her people and is lovely to have around. She has been extensively handled and has the everyday experience that comes from being part of an amateur owner’s program.

Under saddle, she is reasonably sensitive and responsive. She itolerates leg and spur well and is forgiving of rider mistakes. She listens, thinks, and wants to get things right.

Hen could be a very reasonable horse for a capable amateur in a consistent 4–5 day-a-week program. Her ideal person is a quiet, confident rider who appreciates young sport horses and enjoys developing a partnership with one.

She has everything I would want in a serious young sport horse: athleticism, technique, bravery, intelligence, willingness, and a genuinely good mind, paired with an unusually broad education for her age without being overproduced.

I have put an enormous amount of time, thought, and energy into this mare. She is offered through absolutely no fault of her own; I am simply moving toward more hobby riding.

I genuinely believe Hen has the potential to be the horse of a lifetime for the right person.

An excellent home is an absolute must. I am in no rush to sell and will be selective about where she goes.
