I have so enjoyed owning Chaplain for the past 5 years. We have done it all! From fox hunting, to hunters/jumpers, to eventing, to sorting cattle, to trails, to ranch riding, to dressage - you name it, he has probably done it. He is also good at all the things! The last year, I have taken him out of jumping and done more western work with him. He absolutely loves it. He rides on handed or two, direct reins or neck reins. He is a champ walk/jog/lope. I have used him for lessons and he is the sweetest. He takes care of my riders but he really likes being a one-person horse. He tolerates lessons for me but he really just likes being my personal pony.

He is zero maintenance other than floating his teeth once a year. He is truly the best horse. This last year, I spent some time doing drill team with him and he loves it. He is super quiet in the rodeo atmosphere. I am new to drill team but he took care of me every ride. He loads perfect, stands quietly for the farrier, no bad habits, just is a perfect gentleman. You also might think he is "old" but he is one of the fittest, strongest horses in my program. I honestly think the folks I bought him from fibbed a little about his age but it doesn't really matter to me. He is as healthy as a horse!

I really don't like the idea of rehoming him. I will only sell him to an adult amateur that will love him and baby him more than me - and that is a pretty big ask. The only thing to manage for him is his fly allergy. I have managed it without medication this last year - I just keep him in a fly sheet under a fan in the hot summer. Of course, while riding, he is fine with fly spray.
