Bentley is a stunning gelding with a very quiet and gentle personality. He adores people and attention and waits all day to be brought out to be ridden. He is a very unique horse that has been handled well his entire life. He spent his early years driving single and double for his family, working both equipment in the field and going down the road to to the family farm. He was easily transitioned to riding and has proven himself as a safe, gentle, calm and willing partner. He can be handled, lead, and ridden by small children or experienced riders. Either way, his demeanor never changes. He is happy spending his time being groomed and loved on, and is not bothered by kids/noise/tractors/dogs/etc. He is not spooky, nervous or anxious. He ground ties, cross ties, and straight ties. Under saddle, he has been ridden both English and western. He has smooth gaits and and is very easy to ride in a snaffle bit. He has been exposed to, and stands quietly for - gunfire, tarps, flags, poppers, and flares. He also is confident pulling objects, going through/under objects. He can be reliably ground tied in the arena. Most of his work has been done for mounted patrol training, and he is still learning arena work. He is currently working on side passing, turn on the forehand, backing through obstacles, and picking up the canter on cue. He is a push ride but does not require spurs or a strong rider - he is just slow and happy to be that way! Bentley loves riding outside and has been trail ridden alone. I have ridden him through the woods and he has been exceptionally happy and reliable. He loves to explore, is curious, and is not reactive to water, ditches, bridges or wildlife. He has no vices, clean legs/feet, and no medical issues. He will pass a rigorous PPE. He is excellent for the farrier and has always been barefoot with big, hard feet. He self loads in a two horse trailer and quietly backs out on command. Bentley's training has been slow, progressive and correct. He does not have holes in his training, and is a reliable partner. His docile, happy, kind personality makes him a barn favorite and a true gem of a horse.
