It is rare to find a pony with this level of training, versatility, and bombproof temperament. Piper is a capable and fun 14-year-old Shetland pony mare with a fantastic foundation. She is the absolute definition of a child's dream pony and an invaluable asset for a junior rider, family, or high-quality lesson program.
On the flat, she is solidly established at Dressage Training Level with smooth transitions and lovely movement. Over fences, she is a capable, honest jumper and has experience at both dressage and combined shows, winning in dressage.
Beyond the arena, she truly excels in the hunt field. She is a 2-year seasoned fox hunter, with a successful record running in the First Field and acting as a staff horse as a Whip. She is brave, surefooted, and entirely unfazed by hounds, territory, or a busy field, sometimes completing up to 30 miles in a weekend of cross country.
She absolutely loves children and treats her tiny riders with the utmost care. She is a 100% safe lead-line pony and a patient teacher for children learning the ropes. She loves to be groomed and pampered. In the barn and pasture, she is a dream: completely quiet when stalled or turned out, exceptionally kind to other horses, and has zero "mareish" attitude. She is an incredibly easy keeper, stands perfectly for the farrier, and loads/ties without hesitation.
Disciplines: Dressage (Training Level), Fox Hunting (2 years in First Field & Whipping), Lead-Line/Lesson Pony, Cross Country
Piper's purchase will include her pony jump saddle, jump girth, jump saddle pad, jump bridle, and bit as well as a leather halter, grazing muzzle, stall muzzle and a gold name plate.
Farrier: seen every 5 weeks, barefoot, with solid hooves
Barn: currently pastured with a large pony mare and young horse gelding with freedom to come in and out of the barn during pasture time
Diet: grass and 1st cutting hay, no grain
Teeth: examined/floated every 6 months
Note on Management:
She is a cribber, which is easily managed with a muzzle (not a collar). It has never affected her health, performance, or her excellent ability to keep weight. Cribbing is does not occur when turned out, trailering or tied. This single vice is vastly outweighed by her golden personality and stellar resume.
Our priority is with the best fit rider and we prioritize a home where her talents will be appreciated and her routine maintained over a quick sale. She loves having a job and we want to see her continue to excel wherever she goes.
