Fiona, as we lovingly call her is the whole package! Standing 14.1 hands, GVHS registered and at just six years old she has her whole life ahead of her.

I bought Fiona as a yearling and was very slow and methodical starting her under saddle. She has wonderful ground manners and groundwork and is easy to handle in every way. She is quiet for the farrier, loads in to any trailer, loves a bath and is respectful of your space. She has great groundwork that I spent a lot of time on when she was younger. Although it’s not needed before you ride, she lunges, roundpens and does all of the fundamental groundwork with ease.

To me what makes this mare extra special is her work ethic under saddle. Fiona is a forward moving horse and enjoys having a job. I’ve hauled Fiona all over to horse shows, rodeos, parades, overnight camping/trail rides, barrel races, etc. She stands tied to the trailer great and overnight stays at new locations are easy and normal for her. She is comfortable going through ditches, gullies and water as well as good around all kinds of livestock (dogs,cows,goats,etc). I’ve had all kinds of youth kids and amateurs on her, including my brother who has been on a horse less than 15 times who can lope her all around one handed. At home I have pastured her with a variety of different horses and never had any issues.

Her education under saddle will set her apart from many other Gypsy Vanners. I spent a lot of time riding her in a snaffle and she knows all of the body control, upward and downward transitions and has a great stop and back up from all gaits.

She is also incredibly easy to ride in a bridle, I show her in the ranch riding in romels but she goes around just as good in split reins as well.

I’ve shown this mare a good bit and she’s won close to $1500 and numerous buckles just at local jackpots and all breed classes at AQHA shows. She is incredibly easy and consistent to show on the rail and in the ranch riding pattern classes. She is confident doing all the ranch trail maneuvers including the bridge, drag, gate, trot and lope overs, etc.

In 2024 she was the Alabama Open Horse Show Association ranch rail champion shown against 70 other stock type breeds. This was a huge class full of some very nice quarter type horses and she held her own. She was the first ever non stock horse type breed to show in the ranch rail at the state show and definitely made a statement.

Another thing that makes this mare incredibly special is she is homozygous Tobiano, meaning she will always throw a paint. She had one colt for me by Ruthars Sunlight of Lexlin. She had zero issues carrying/delivering and was a great mom. He is a spitting image of his mother; absolutely gorgeous, great mover, excellent conformation and temperament to die for.

Fiona has zero vices, is an easy keeper, has never been lame or needed any maintenance and has been barefoot her whole life. She is up to date on shots, coggins and dental work.
