Bred by Page Quarter Horses in Canby, Oregon, Derby has the breeding and talent for reining, show or speed events. He has multiple crosses to Mr. San Peppy, Poco Bueno, Doc Bar, Three Bars and My Texas Dandy. Per the breeder, his full brother was a Mexican reining champion as a stallion. Derby is muscular, good-looking and talented. Running free, he has a lengthy, natural sliding stop. He has been ridden in the past to the "started" point (walk, trot, stop, back, side pass, some loping). He responds to voice commands on a lunge line. His owner's situation has resulted in him not being ridden at all for a couple of years. Derby's low price reflects his age plus the need for refresher rides and additional training. His next owner needs to either be an experienced trainer or willing to pay one. Derby is a quick learner, sensitive and responsive. Derby thrives with patient, quiet and encouraging handling; no heavy hands. With that kind of training, his potential for competition in various disciplines is excellent. Or, if you just want some handsome equine eye candy around, Derby is your guy! Video link should post to the ad soon. Here it is: https://youtu.be/sDhQMb623l8
