Callie is one of those horses we wish we could keep.

She is a beautiful 14 year old bay Quarter Horse mare standing 15.1 hands, with a substantial, big-boned build, a sweet personality, and smooth, comfortable gaits. She has been part of our family for many years now and is, quite simply, a good girl. We whistle for Callie, and she comes. She is simply a horse we enjoy going out to feed, handle, and spend time with. Her personality and dependability have easily made her a favorite around the barn.

Callie is only being offered for sale because of the unexpected passing of our father. This is not an easy sale, and finding a good home for her matters very much to us!

For the past three summers, Callie has been part of a children’s riding camp and lesson program, helping children through some of their very first horseback-riding lessons. Kids could steer and stop her themselves, & she was often a favorite in the program. The children didn’t simply ride her… they groomed, saddled, led, and helped care for her as part of their camp experience. Callie is accustomed to children, activity, and all the commotion that naturally comes with a busy barn and lesson program.

She has been ridden both English and Western, in the arena and out on the trail. Callie direct reins, moves willingly off her rider’s cues, and picks up both leads. She has been ridden alone as well as with other horses and has traveled across many different types of terrain.
Callie’s experience goes well beyond the arena. She has been trail ridden through the woods. Open fields, by water, ridden alongside the road, and exposed to traffic, bicycles, wildlife, and farm machinery.

Callie is the kind of mare whose value becomes clearer the more time you spend with her. She has that tough to find balance of being patient enough to teach from, yet willing & responsive enough to remain enjoyable as her rider progresses. She has already been a patient teacher to many children, but we believe she still has an exciting chapter ahead of her.

There is an effortless, fluid quality to Callie’s movement. She carries a natural rhythm from one stride to the next, making her comfortable to sit & every bit as enjoyable to ride as she is to watch. She is a lot of fun to ride!

Combined with her naturally attractive headset and easy, rhythmic cadence, that movement gives Callie the potential to continue developing with additional training & refinement. She could be a great for English, Western, or ranch classes at local and open show..or simply enjoyed for everything she already knows.

Whether her next chapter is with a family, in a lesson program, out on the trails, or continuing her development toward the show ring, Callie has the versatility, experience, and willing attitude to be enjoyed in many different directions & she is sure to turn heads while doing it.
