Meet Commander. At first look he will take your breath away, and then he will charm you from there. Absolutely a gentleman.

The good stuff: A ton of trail miles, in parades, trail riding groups, and at clinics. When you ride out on a trail, Commander is confident and not spooky. In the arena, soft, knows all leg aids and is solid. Impeccable ground manners. Excellent in the trailer, both slant or straight load. Excellent for the farrier, can be barefoot or with shoes. Has all shots, vaccines, and dental work. Has been around small children, cattle, livestock, and dogs. Absolutely loves liberty and learning new things.

Now the other stuff: When you turn to go home, he may get jiggy and want to hurry along, respectful but jiggy. When he rides in the rear of the trail group he prefers to be in the front and can get anxious. Horses leave him behind and he can get anxious. He's still respectful but not totally quiet. However, he gets anxious when he is asked to open and close gates while on his back, not sure what it's about, but the anxiousness is most likely from past pressure and would probably get better with some patient work.

Commander was trained by vaqueros and taught to dance. Much of his training came from pressure. The last few years have been about a different approach, asking with pressure and release rather than force. The result is a dramatically calmer and willing partner.

The question on why he's for sale? At only 9 years old, he deserves a person who wants to go out and do something with him. His owner figured she would see if his match made in heaven fell in love just as she did, and his next forever home appeared. He's an absolutely stunning horse with the personality to match.
