Kit is a six-year-old bay roan registered Appendix Quarter Horse gelding who is 15.3 hands and still growing and filling out. He has the athleticism, nice conformation, and intelligence to excel at a variety of jobs. I have owned him since he was a yearling and he has always been friendly and playful with a busy brain but not a mean bone in his body. Due to his slower physical maturation, he was started mindfully and correctly in ground and in-hand work, but was not started under saddle until 4 years old. He has been ridden both English and Western and has been introduced to cattle, small cross-country fences, trails, and obstacles. Kit is a very nice mover with a floaty trot and gaits that are smooth, light, and easy to sit. He is currently schooling training level dressage movements and lateral work. I feel that he would love a job that engages his brain and feels like fun, such as eventing or working equitation, ranch versatility, etc. Kit is suitable for an advanced intermediate or a professional horseman/woman who can keep developing him in a consistent program, understands how to be a confident, clear and calm leader, likes to have a laugh with their equine counterpart, and wants the chance to develop a partnership bond with a quality horse. He is not suitable for novice riders because he still has a distractable “baby brain” and becomes insecure if not shown clear, calm leadership and direction from his rider. On the trail, he does better either alone or with one other horse. He loads nicely, trailers quietly, ties well (including cross ties) and stands to be bathed. He has been barefoot his whole life and stands well to have his feet trimmed. He lives out 24/7 with access to a stall as he chooses and is an easy keeper. He has been turned out with mares, geldings, and ponies; his current pasture mate is a mare. Kit is UTD on his vaccinations, teeth and Coggins. My reason for selling is the classic scenario: I have come to terms with the fact that I simply do not have the time to keep him in the consistent program that he needs right now and I would like to see him reach his happiest potential with a well-matched rider.
