Cooper is the kindest, sweetest draft cross gelding. He is a beautiful blend of two incredible breeds, combining the quiet, calm reliability and substance of a Clydesdale and with the beautiful presence, movement, and elegance of a Friesian. Cooper is the type of horse that is simply happy to do whatever you ask of him. He is incredibly friendly, loves attention, and will literally meet you at the gate to be caught because he wants to spend time with you. His loving personality, willingness to please, and genuine enjoyment of people are what make him so special. Cooper rides well in any English or western tack, rides bareback and is also broke to drive. He is uncomplicated to ride, a super quick learner, and has a wonderful work ethic. In the arena, Cooper has been working on collection and extension of his trot, as well as lateral movements. He has excellent transitions, works nicely off your legs, and is developing into a very talented young horse with plenty of ability to continue up the levels. You can ride him in the manner you are most comfortable with, and he adjusts beautifully to his rider. One of Cooper’s most special qualities is his ability to adapt to the person riding him. If you are a nervous or less-confident rider, Cooper naturally becomes quieter, calmer, slower, and more reassuring. If you are a skilled or professional rider, he is smart enough, athletic enough, and talented enough to give you more and continue developing toward whatever level or discipline you want to pursue. He doesn’t require his rider to be perfect. He meets you where you are. We have done a little bit of everything with Cooper, and he has always been a happy horse simply doing whatever is asked of him. He has the mind to be a wonderful amateur partner while also having the ability and talent to develop into a serious performance horse. Cooper is an absolute blast to trail ride! He is brave and confident and will go through timber, prairie, and even into the river! He will happily go out alone, but he is equally comfortable riding in a group. Cooper has impeccable ground manners and is an absolute gentleman to be around. You can tie him anywhere and he stands patiently for grooming and he LOVES baths! He stands well for the farrier and is currently barefoot and does not require shoes. He is healthy and up-to-date on all vaccinations and dental work. Cooper does have a scar/blemish on his right hip. It consists of black skin surrounded by white hair, which actually gives him a very unique and striking appearance! The area has been evaluated by several veterinarians, and they all agree that it is simply a cosmetic blemish/scar and does not affect his soundness, movement, or ability in any way. Cooper is looking for a home that will appreciate not only his ability and potential, but most importantly the loving, kind, willing horse that he already is.
