Trappe The Wind aka “Chad” Is a 16 hand OTTB gelding who retired with clean legs. Chad came to me from a track in Illinois where he spent time being a track pony. His job for me has been a trail horse and has been ridden here at home by myself and several youth. Chad just returned from 30 days conditioning with a 15 year old experienced youth. He has been ridden by intermediate youth ages 11, 12, 13, 15, 17, and 19. We have found that he knows the barrel pattern, neck reins when he is asked consistently, and will comply with what you are asking sometimes without attitude, sometimes with, but overall, just does not care for arena work. He is lovely on trails, and enjoys being out exploring just as much as his rider. His fun, goofy personality always keeps those around him smiling or rolling their eyes. Great for the farrier, vet, and chiropractor. He has all 3 gaits, and can pick up his leads, but this is where he becomes stubborn and it shows he just does not enjoy arena work but does enjoy having a job, which I cannot offer with having 7 kids. He has sat for months at a time with no riding and takes to trails without hesitation. He will make a fantastic trail partner or intermediate to experienced youth horse to anyone who is looking to just take him and explore his potential. Cons: He is a thoroughbred and requires proper knowledge of how to feed because he is a harder keeper. He is a windsucker. A muzzle is used when stalled, but 24/7 turnout is what he has here and he does just fine. Requires a blanket during the winter. He is just a cold weenie and doesn’t grow a thick enough coat, no matter how long you wait for him to do so. If you made it this far and think this big boy is for you, lets set up a meet. $4000 obo.
