Meet Scarlet's Black Jack, a 10-year-old Friesian Quarter Horse cross mare standing at 16.2 hands tall. She is described as a one-of-a-kind, consistent mare who maintains a gentle and predictable demeanor whether caught in a stall or a pasture. Riding & Performance: Scarlet stands calmly for mounting and dismounting, stays soft in the face, jogs slowly while collected, and can ride on a loose rein with a nice extended jog. She picks up her canter right away when asked and is considered a more "whoa-than-go" type of horse that remains safe for any level of rider, from beginner to advanced. Driving & Trail Experience: She has been around ranch work, trail-ridden, driven in parades and wagon trains, and is completely traffic-safe. She crosses large and small bodies of water without hesitation. When hitched for driving, she behaves wonderfully in harness, and a single person can hook her up independently. Camping & Ground Manners: She has been on numerous overnight camping trips, stands exceptionally well on a tie line, and loads and unloads smoothly. She is also easy to shoe, clip, bathe, tack, and catch, and has even started learning to lie down and sit up on cue. Veterinary Inspection: Backed by an official health examination from Casey County Veterinary Services (Courtney L. Brockman, D.V.M.) dated October 12, 2023. The exam confirmed her eyes, nose, and ears were clear and free of discharge, mucous membranes were pink with a capillary refill time under 2 seconds, heart and lungs auscultated clear, and she was healthy and sound overall.
