If you have been waiting for that one special Blue Roan that can wear a lot of different hats, Chex may be the one you have been looking for. Show him in the morning, ride him in the afternoon, and let the grandkids enjoy him that evening. He has the training and ability to go perform, yet the quiet, kind mindset to slow down and take care of a beginner. Add in his beautiful Blue Roan color and one of the sweetest personalities we have had in our barn, and Chex truly is the whole package. Chex is a 2018 model, 14.3-hand AQHA Blue Roan gelding who has been a barn favorite from the very first time he stepped into our barn. With his kind eye, gentle heart, and people-loving personality, it did not take long for everyone to fall in love with him. He truly knows who is on his back and wants to take care of his rider, whether that is a true beginner, kid, senior, or an advanced rider wanting to enjoy all the training he has to offer. We think he could excel in the ranch show pen, make an outstanding bombproof trail horse, or simply be that dependable family horse and pasture friend everyone enjoys having around. One thing we really appreciate about Chex is that he does not have to stay in a steady riding program to remain the same. Ride him once a week, once a month, or give him some time off, and he will step back out like he has been ridden every day. Chex has been ridden Western, English, bareback, and even bridle less. He has smooth, comfortable gaits from the walk, trot, extended trot, and lope. He knows his leads, has a lead change, a nice turnaround, good stop, side passes, and will side pass over to the mounting block. He has been exposed to about everything we can think of and takes it all in stride. He is good with tarps, jugs, whips, and gunshots. We have used him to bring the horses in from the back acres, and even with horses running past him, Chex simply keeps walking along like nothing is happening. He has also been used to check cattle and fence lines. Chex has been on miles of trails through the woods and open fields, up and down hills, over logs, through creeks, and through water without missing a beat. Ride him out alone or in a group; he is happy either way. In a group, he will ride in the front, middle, or back and does not care where you put him. He has also been ridden on state roads with traffic and semis, as well as small, tight country roads, and takes it all in stride. In the barn, Chex is a true gem. You can see in his eyes that he is gentle and kindhearted. He loves people, attention, and all the scratches you are willing to give him. He is a gentleman to groom, tack, and bathe in the wash bay and is good in the pasture by himself or with other horses. Chex is that hard-to-find combination of a quiet, dependable mindset with the training and ability to go out and perform. Whether you want to show, trail ride, let the family enjoy him, or simply have a kind horse to call your own, Chex is one you will not want to overlook. C
