If safety and security on your horse is your number one priority, this is the horse for you. Commander is the horse you feel confident to take anywhere and do anything with because he is always quiet, safe, and the same horse – no matter where you go. Commander is an independent thinker, smart on his feet, and wise beyond his years. Whether you are a nervous, timid rider lacking confidence –or if you are just tired of spooky horses doing silly things, and want that laid back horse you can actually enjoy and relax on, Commander is you man. I have had riders from 3 to 75 on him. From pony rides to camping trips, hunter paces, and clinics, and everyone has safely enjoyed him the same. He is ready to step into the hunt field with you, trail ride with the family, hit the show ring, and be the partner you need to get your confidence back. Commander is a coming 4 year old Warmblood x Percheron gelding standing 16 hands high. Everything about him is right. He has the look and moves of a warmblood, with the brain of a slow and steady draft horse. Commander feels just as steady riding in the arena as he does hacking out alone, on a hunter pace with friends, or riding in a new place. He has been just about everywhere a horse can go, and been exposed to so many places, arenas, and scenarios, and every time he amazes us with his rock solid brain and easygoing temperament. His motto is slow and steady wins the race. In the ring, Commander has three quality gaits that are easy to sit. He has good brakes, stops when you say whoa, and is more whoa than go. He is broke both English and western. He has a good understanding of basic lateral work and can side pass, leg yield, and pivot. He is soft in the bridle and is happy to ride on the bit collected, or on a loose rein. Commander has gone to many different places to school, and even in the spookiest of indoors, was the best behaved and quietest horse of the day, every time. He has been lightly started over fences and has proven to be brave and simple, even over “scary” fill and small logs. On the trails and off property Commander is unmatched. You truly can safely take this horse anywhere. If you know how to steer, you can ride him and enjoy him. He is that simple. Even a first time rider can enjoy him on the trails. He swims, crosses water, bridges, is safe in traffic, and is just as brave alone as he is in a group. He is fine with bikes speeding by, livestock, deer jumping out of the brush, trains, and loud farm machinery. Commander has been out on hunter paces and he aways steals the show! He truly is a horse you can sit back and relax on. Let your reins out loose and enjoy your ride. In the barn, Commander loves people. He’ll be the first to the gate to greet you and would rather live in the house with you than the barn. The more time you spend in the barn with him the happier he’ll be. He is a good boy with good manners for all of the usual barn tasks and genuinely enjoys the attention he gets.
