SMITHWORK TURN AKA RIP
Rip is a 2024 model gelding by SmithWork(Painted Turnpike) out of a dtr of Sweet First Down(First Down Dash). He currently stands at 15.1-2hh (should mature at 15.3-16h) and built THICK.
Rip had 3 starts on the track winning a total of $7,865 and retired sound. He has since then been restarted and is trotting the barrels. He is a super social guy, gets along with mares, geldings, stud colts, trail rides, is traffic safe, isn’t afraid of barking dogs, kids on bikes, has great stall manners, loads, back off the trailer, picks up all feet, no kick, bite, buck, or any funny business. I used him as a show horse durning a barrel drill lesson and he did great. He couldn’t care less about being used to keep distance from the barrels, having a horse running at him or behind him, stayed present and focused while other horses in sight were being wild.
This guy has a great head on his shoulders, the thickness of a cow horse, the power of a running bred, and all the potential in the world. He is up to date on coggins, vaccines, shoes, etc.
New/recent riding videos will be taken soon. The ones here are a few weeks old and he has progressed since.
He’d be an amazing barrel horse and I’m sure he could be a great head or breakaway prospect as well.
His biggest “issue” is that he hates nats and mosquitoes. He doesn’t do anything mean but he swishes his tail a lot and will stop to rub them off his legs belly. I’m sure it’s something he will learn to work through but his attention drifts from the task at hand to the pesky bugs and then back to the task.
Rip is currently located in Bogata Texas but will be going to a few other places and spending some time there with me.
