Enjoy a fun, steady ride down the trail one day, then take her to the show ring the next. Whether you’re looking for a dependable trail partner or a beautiful mover to take down the road to a show, she offers the best of both worlds!
Affectionately known around the barn as “Kelsey,” this 2022, 15.1-hand, thickly made bay overo APHA mare is the kind that makes you stop and take a second look. With her beautiful conformation, eye-catching presence, and naturally attractive way of moving, Kelsey offers an exciting opportunity for someone looking to bring along a quality young mare with a bright future ahead of her.
𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬, 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧.
The possibilities with this mare are truly exciting. With her conformation and movement, we could see her being a lovely candidate for 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞, where she can showcase her natural way of going, or continuing her development as a versatile all-around prospect. Whether your sights are set on the Western or English show pen, this mare has the kind of look and potential that make you want to see what she can become.
Kelsey has had a little taste of several different things, giving her a nice foundation to build upon. She has 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬, 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬, including water crossings, fallen logs, and bridges. She has also been hauled off the property to experience new places and see the sights.
Kelsey was started later and has been 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐃𝐈𝐘 𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐮𝐫-𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐝 program. She is still a young mare in the development stage, making her an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing along a prospect and putting their own finishing touches on a horse. She is willing, kind, and eager to be a team player, and we believe she will thrive with a consistent program that helps her continue to mature and develop.
The best part? You get to decide what direction her future takes.
Beyond her looks and potential, Kelsey is a pleasure to have around the barn. She stands tied, is easy to catch, loads in the trailer (she would benefit from a little additional work backing out), is good for the vet and farrier, and stands quietly for mounting. She has excellent stall manners, is not a stall kicker, and has no known vices.
