Looking for a pony with personality? This handsome bay roan Welsh pony has plenty of it! Buster, previously named, Thunder. We want to be upfront and honest about him because finding the right home sets everyone up for success. A Little About His Background: He came to us from an Amish trainer in Wyoming, where he was ridden many hours a day and received quite a bit of training. He has a foundation of experience, but we also recognize that he hasn't had the consistent time and attention with us that would help him continue progressing. The Good Stuff: • No buck and no bite. • Stands well for the farrier and vet. • Enjoys being groomed. • Unbothered by kids being around him. • Does great lead-lined. • Fairly easy to catch. • Good with dogs. • Cows, goats, and pigs don't seem to bother him. • Has been exposed to gymkhana patterns and does okay with them, although he isn't exactly enthusiastic about running them! Things You Should Know: • He can be a little spooky until he trusts you. It took a while to really build that trust. • He has a stubborn streak and will need a confident, handy rider. He would do best with a kid who is equally as stubborn as he is! • He is not a pony we would recommend for a timid or completely inexperienced young rider. • He will load and trailer, but it is definitely a process and not something he does easily. • He is very food-motivated and definitely knows his place at the top of the herd. He needs to be fed separately because he will guard the food and make sure the other horses don't get their fair share. A Little More About Him: We will be the first to admit that we simply haven't had the time to put into him that he deserves. We think many of his quirks and stubborn habits could improve with more consistent handling, riding, and one-on-one attention. He has a foundation of training and potential, but he needs someone who has the time and interest to bring it out. We don't want to make promises about what he could become, but we do think the right person could make a lot of progress with him. He isn't mean or aggressive, just a little grumpy and opinionated at times. He has his quirks, but he also has some really nice qualities. We aren't going to pretend he's a perfect babysitter pony because he isn't but he has made our kids (5, 7 & 9 yrs old) better riders! He makes them work for his ride. would be best suited for someone who has some pony experience, appreciates a horse with a little character, and is willing to earn his trust. We want to be completely transparent about who he is so that he and his next person can be be successful together.
