Luna’s Moon Beam, affectionately known as Moonbeam, has been in my training program at Wild Colt Ranch for a little over a year. He’s developed into a wonderful all-around riding and trail horse with a sweet disposition and an incredibly smooth gait. Moonbeam is a very personable horse who loves attention and affection but respects your space and isn’t pushy. He’s the kind of horse that’s just enjoyable to be around. Under saddle, Moonbeam is responsive, athletic, and attentive to his rider. He steers beautifully off leg pressure and has excellent control of both his front and hindquarters, as you’ll see demonstrated in the video. He has a wonderfully smooth, ground-covering, flat-footed walk that makes trail rides a pleasure. He rides out confidently alone or in a group. He’s also had some exposure to cattle sorting, and I believe he has the mind, athleticism, and willingness to make an excellent all-around ranch horse. One of the things I appreciate most about Moonbeam is his consistency. He’s the kind of horse you can leave alone for a while, saddle back up, and pick up right where you left off. I think Moonbeam would suit most riders with some riding experience. That said, I think he’d have the most fun with a confident, capable rider who knows how to ask him for what he’s been taught. He’s got a lot to offer beyond simply being a great trail horse. Whether you’re looking for a smooth, enjoyable trail partner or a versatile gelding to put to work around the ranch, Moonbeam is certainly worth a look.
