“Hank” aka Hank the Tank, is a trail riders dream! He is an 8 year old Gypsy/Quarter Horse cross that stands a very solid 14.3 hands and weighs 1170 pounds. This guy will bravely go through anything, lead, follow, it doesn’t matter to him. He knows where every single foot is all the time, he is careful when the trails get technical. He walks out nicely without having to kick every stride, but he does not rush either. He is content to walk along on a loose rein, does not get anxious if horses move on ahead or go off trail as you can see in the video. Doesn’t mind riders talking on the phone or talking with their hands or even turning around in the saddle to talk to the person behind them! My husband is riding him in the video and he is 6’5 but Hank carries him just fine. We had the opportunity to take Hank with us on a trip to Oregon so all of that video footage is of him crossing those trails for the very first time. He handled the trails, the street riding, loading and unloading with new horses all with a new rider with ease. When we brought him home my 12 yr old daughter (she’s 5’8) jumped on him bareback for that footage which was his very first ride on our property and her first time on him. The other young rider out in the pasture is my 14 yr old daughter who is 5’9 for reference. This was her first ride on him as well. Normally we do not film first rides on horses for sale videos but this guy was so steady and solid we had the unique opportunity to showcase this. Hank neck reins, moves off your leg easily and has good brakes. This guy is very easy going, uncomplicated and FUN to ride! Best suited for intermediate beginners on up simply because he is responsive to your legs and will move off right when asked. Video link: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnwItMMepTY]
