Calder(RT Hes Dynamite) is a 5-year-old 15-hand beautiful quarter horse. His build is athletic with a correct ratio of one to two for his top line and neck. He has friendly eyes, a lovely star, strip and snip. His breeding is for barrel racing. Calder’s sire ( CM Dynamites Dally) has offspring that have won barrel races from Colorado to upstate NewYork. He is light in hand, is currently ridden in a gentle French link snaffle, and he transitions down or to a halt from your seat. His build would be perfect for speed events or AQHA show classes. He waits at the gate for his turn to be ridden. He is safe for a beginner but it would not be fair to him as he listens to quiet aids. He is fine with motorized vehicles driving past. He has been exposed to flags, bikes, baths, dogs and clippers. He is good for the farrier and loads in a slant or straight- load trailer. I ride dressage and bought him for his athletic build. His jog is cadenced and smooth but not as “up hill” as I would like. I have considered western dressage, but I prefer the dressage saddle and Calder prefers very light contact. I believe horses do their very best when they love their sport as much as the rider. I love this boy but he needs to find a sport that is better suited for him and a rider that loves him as much as I do.
