Meet Checkers this beautifully marked tri-colored paint gelding stands at a solid 15.3hh at 6 years old. Checkers is the sweetest guy around. He has a long and naturally wavey mane and tail, strong bones, thick conformation, and great feet. He is put together like a draft cross should be. Anyone can catch, groom, tack, and bathe him. Checkers stands like a rock for everything. He has an extremely laid back disposition. He has been trained with natural horsemanship methods and enjoys liberty work. Checkers knows all the tricks, he will sit, lay, and bow on command! He rides off with or without tack anywhere you want to take him. He moves very well off of seat and leg pressure. He has 3 great gaits, knows his leads, and stops on a dime! Checkers will trail ride all day alone or in a group. He absolutely loves the water! He has been on very long river rides down the kayaking rivers of Michigan. He’s happy to encourage a younger or greener horse into the water. He will swim alongside boats, fisherman, and kayaks! Checkers is extremely comfortable, making a great horse to teach a new rider on or an older rider who prefers a smooth ride. Checkers is also broke to drive. He’s worked in the produce fields, parades, given city tours and has even taught driving lessons to kids 5 years old and up in camp! He’s been hunted in PA, and is a great 3rd flight or hill topper type! He’s seen many hours on the trails from the mountains of PA, to the deep woods and open fields of OH and MI. He’s a great traveler and loves adventures. He is a sweet, loving, and laid back guy who stays plump just looking at food. He is the definition of an easy keeper. Checkers will make a great all around horse, one the entire family can enjoy as he’s big enough to carry anyone or even a few people at once, but calm enough for the little ones, or the ones with no experience.
