I am rehoming my 18 y/o grade QH named Elmer, as a package deal with my 94’ two horse Sundowner and all Elmer’s tack. This was a very hard decision for me to make because I LOVE Elmer. He deserves the best. He is a very kind sweet guy. With having my 9 month old and being pregnant with our second I am not riding enough and he’s not being used. About Elmer: I have owned him for a little over 4 years. I have done mostly liberty, pair paces and trail riding on him, but have also done some barrel races and poles. The girl I bought him from roped off him but I never did because I don’t know how. I have pushed cattle with him. I have rode him both Western and English. My passion is trail riding, and it’s something I can tell he loves to do so we have explored miles and miles of country all over Colorado. We camp with the horses during the summer and I have a temp fence I can throw in the package as well. Elmer is definitely a one person horse. He would not excel as a lesson horse, or having multiple riders. He seems to have past trauma from specifically men and being ridden in a large arena just based off his mannerisms. He excels in indoors and round pens, as well as being ridden in an open field/trails. He needs a confident rider that is soft with their seat and hands. He has never once bucked, reared or kicked with me. I will only sell him to someone with a kind hand. He loves water and swimming. He is a lot of fun and has a lot of go. He is currently barefoot because I haven’t been riding but does best when fully shod. He is a very easy keeper and is currently on pasture with other geldings on a round bale. This would be a great first package for an intermediate rider. I am also open to a lease. We are located in Lochbuie, CO.
