This boy recently went through three months tune up training for trail and arena riding after being turned out to pasture for a few years of not-working due to his owner’s health condition.
Before starting the training, we had him vet checked. The vet said everything but his teeth checked out as a 10 yr old, and that he still had a lot of good years in him.
He is UTD on care and barefoot, he has always been barefoot.
He loves trail riding and in general, likes a job.
He can be particular, he wants a light, savvy rider.
He is an emotional guy, a little more like a mare, in that his emotional state really affects him. He can present differently of different days depending on his emotional state. But he is always rideable by a skilled rider. He is not a beginner’s horse, he needs an intermediate or advanced rider because he is so sensitive and notices everything his rider’s body does.
He has lovely gaits, nice w/t/c. He rides in a bosal, but was trained to a snaffle in his past. Trailers, ties, good for farrier, good for vet. Easy keeper. Does fine stalled or turned out, fine in green pastures.
Goes out alone or in groups. If he is trailered out alone, he will get more nervous in the trailer, but still is ok.
