(And needs) If you’ve been searching for a safe, steady and easy to ride partner, the kind you can throw a saddle on any day of the week, point in any direction, and know you’re in good hands, meet Laredo. This golden dappled buckskin AQHA gelding is as easy on the eyes as he is steady in the saddle. He’s built right, and absolutely gorgeous- with a friendly, gentle personality that makes him so enjoyable to be around. Registered AQHA registered name “Flinging Lemons” with some impressive bloodlines, this 5 year old gelding stands 15.1 hands tall, has plenty of real-world experience, and a very good mind. Laredo is naturally friendly and loves attention, he is always ready to greet you at the gate. If you enjoy being around horses that are “in your pocket” you’ll love him. He has the kindest eyes and the sweetest soul, and he is ready to be your best bud. He’s quiet and patient on the ground, stands calmly to groom, saddle, and mount, and has excellent manners. Gentle and quiet, he loads, ties, bathes, and stands for the vet and farrier without fuss. He rides soft in the bridle, responds to leg cues, and is smooth and enjoyable. He has been trained to side pass over to pickup his rider on the mounting block as well, which is handy! Laredo has been a trusted trail partner with us. He’s safe, solid and has a good mind. He’s been my go-to choice when I need to pack a kid on board. He’s gone on overnight camping trips, where he crossed deep water, climbed steep rocky hills, and even explored miles of trails with our little one-year-old tucked in the baby carrier. He’s sure-footed, calm, and confident. New scenery doesn’t bother him, creeks, passing wildlife, or navigating through rough terrain, he handles it all with patience and a steady step. It’s easy to relax and enjoy the ride on a seasoned horse like him. You’ll feel at ease on his back! I’ve even hopped on him bareback in the dark and loped him off down the road, and he just calmly carries on like it’s nothing unusual for him. We have put him in about every situation you can think of, and he just proves himself rock solid again and again. He’s also been started on the head side, done a little bit of breakaway, lightly started on barrels, and used for ranch work including pasture roping, loading, doctoring etc. Laredo is versatile, well rounded, adaptable, and ready to succeed in whatever direction his next owner wants to
