Link is everything you could ask for in a colt and more. Besides being "born broke" with a sound mind and great temperament, he was given the best start in life for a young horse. From being a home bred baby who was handled since birth, to growing up free on a large ranch, to getting his first 30 days of training this year, every interaction this horse has had with humans has been positive. He has strong legs and will be able to go barefoot. He was started slowly and intentionally with lots of love and time put into making it a good experience. The result has been a confident young horse who trusts his handler and has no trouble or braces in him. This horse is soft, soft, soft to handle on the ground. You can control each foot with your lead-line and he will follow a feel. He handles new obstacles with confidence and has never spooked at introducing something new. His natural tempermant is more "woah" than "go" but he does have great movement and a fun, big trot that is very adjustable. With more training, he could be finished to work cows, do rodeo pickup, or lower level dressage movements. His very first "ride" took place after an entire week off where he was pulled out of pasture right before dinner time. Many older, broke horses could be spicier than normal in that situation, but Link was calm. His first ride went smoothy with no buck, brace or spook and he successfully walked, trotted and loped under saddle the very first day. He has never offered any dangerous behavior throughout his entire training. What he does : Walk, trot and lope in hand and under saddle. Handles obstacles, tarps, flags, natural horsemanship, stands for farriers, cross-ties, trims, backs, stands tied, gets along with other horses, easy keeper, lives in a herd. What he doesn't do: Bolt, spook, buck, rear, pace, push on your personal space, exhibit herd bound behaviors What he is: Link is 1/2 Purebred Gypsy and 1/2 Quarter Horse Percheron Cross. His mother was a Gypsy Vanner from the famous "Taskin" bloodline who has his own Bryer horse. She also has "The Boss" in her bloodline, another great foundation Gypsy. These horses have lively movement and great conformation. His father was a mountain horse through and through. As a half percheron, half quarter horse he was used extensively to pack in the mountains and carry bigger riders through the trails. He passed on incredible strong feet that go barefoot, sound legs and the great quarter horse brain so many of us know and love. Link is truly going to be a once-in-a-lifetime horse for someone. He could be turned into an incredible personal horse, trail horse, pack horse, or someday be an amazing confidence building horse for a younger rider. If we didn't already have an (over)full pasture, he would stay with us forever and be the go-to at the barn. It's rare to find something this young, safe, and mentally sou
