Bert is an exuberant forward mover with experience on the trail . He stands quietly for farrier. He loads and trailers very well.
Although Bert is a sound horse he was evaluated due to sheath swelling from previous severe habronemiasis (Summer Sores). . He has been aggressively treated with prednisone and topical therapy with oral ivermectin and swelling has significantly improved with granulation and no habronema eggs. Recurrence results from a complex association between the horse, the stomach worm and its intermediate hosts of barn/stable flies. It has been recommended to relocate Bert to another area preferably another state.
