Purchased Klaatu, two years ago. He raced 18 races, mostly a mile long, and won quite a bit. After racing, he became a pony horse, which is one of the main reasons I chose him to buy. Figured if he was sane enough to be a pony horse, he would likely be easy enough to train for jumpers and dressage. Worked on teaching him his dressage basics, then added in some low jumps into his routine.
Leased him out for 6 months to a H/J barn. While there, he also did lots of trial rides, so I was told.
When he came back from his lease, his education in dressage and jumping continued. I believe in taking my time, jumping over low jumps, until they are pretty experienced at that. So he was jumped up to 2'10", but mostly lower. I think he is likely very scopey, and will be able to jump decent size jumps. Just have not tried. He seems to jump better over the larger ones. Appears to really enjoy jumping.
I'm old, and have too many horses for me to ride every day. Which is why I am offering Klaatu for sale. Or for feed lease. Off-site is fine.
Jumps around a course just fine, although still green-ish. Almost has his changes. Gets them most of the time, then will miss. Will be easy to clean those up. I just haven't really tried.
Western video is from around a year ago. What can't be seen in the video, is the neighbors' immense herd of cows is right next to arena fence. Many of the horses at the barn have a real problem with the moving in mass, and mooing cows, right next to arena fence. Klaatu is fine with the cows. And the goats.
Videos are not edited. Entire session from start to finish. I'm not big on seeing little snippets of videos. What happened in the part that was edited out? I could have edited out the boo-boo, but didn't want to. I don't want to lease or sell him to anyone who has an issue with a greenish horse doing greenish things. I want him in the correct home, for him & the lessee/ purchaser.
In the 2 yrs I've had him, he has been sound. I always x-ray backs, in pre-purchase. His back x-rays are great.
