Offering for part lease to local rider Beautiful registered AQHA red dun mare, Piab’s Sunny Day, 18 years old. She was trained with native horsemanship since birth, used as a horse therapy mount for young children and takes particular care with kids, has dressage and reining training and goes well on trails either alone or with others. She is very careful of her feet. She was raised in a herd on a large acreage, so has good horse manners. She tends to be dominant in a herd. Likes to do tricks! She has been my dream horse, but as I age, I know she needs someone who will ride her more than I do. Piab has a solid personality, but also thinks and has a good working attitude. She will try things but learns corrections quickly. She takes care of her rider, goes with very light leg and rein, and with her smooth gaits, she seems like a Cadillac compared to other horses! She has had excellent care all her life and bonds well with people, comes when she’s called, has good ground manners and trailers well, is good with the farrier. She has very hard feet and hasn’t worn shoes most of her life. She is very affectionate and will follow her person like a dog in the arena and will graze the yard politely around the house and can be confined by a rope fence. If she has reason to spook, she generally with stand in place and look at what spooked her. She has never tried to run away, even in difficult situations. She hasn’t been used in shows and though she likes to learn new things, hasn’t been exposed to many public events. She also has lots of go and is fast when she works. Because she is high-spirited and intelligent, she’d do best with a person experienced with how horses think/ could be an intermediate rider with a trainer. She’d do well as a trail horse, with some performance work. Like many mares, she is opinionated, but always responds to fair treatment. She will give rides to children under adult supervision but is not a children’s or beginner’s horse. Prefer that she goes to a home with pasture.
