Huckleberry Finn, barn name, Finn (2011) 16.1H dark bay thoroughbred gelding is looking for his next confident adult to team up with. Confident experienced adults only, not suitable for children. He is currently barefoot without issue, but also previously wore front shoes. W/T/C under saddle with a to die for canter. Gives lots of effort over ground poles. Stands well for vet, farrier, chiro and dentist. He cross ties and is currently working on ground tying. He has been in both straight and slant load trailers. He was jumped and shown in the baby greens with his previous owner but has not jumped recently. Finn does well out with friends, but can also be turned out by himself and does stall fairly well, although he seems to prefer to spend more time outside than in. Has been out with mares and geldings. Finn is closer to the top of the pecking order, but it not rude about it. Finn has been out of regular work at no fault of his own for the past year. Life changes have his human seeking a more kid friendly mount. Finn's ground manners improve the more turnout he receives. He can be a bit of a handful after long periods of time stalled with no work if not corrected, easily managed with a rope halter. Finn responds really well to groundwork. Finn can easily be ponied and has been introduced to trails with varying footing, mud, brush, etc. with no problems. He has also passed cars on the dirt road without issues. We are working on building his confidence through desensitization of different obstacles and he is making great improvements. He gains a lot of confidence from his handler. Finn thrives in a program with regular work and consistency. He turns into a nice balance between whoa and go when in regular work. He mentally struggles under saddle when he is out of shape and lacks muscle. Finn would benefit from a situation where he could be kept in work year-round. His current owner has not been able to provide this for the past few years. He does crib, but it can be controlled with a cribbing collar or cribox. Finn is currently being brought slowly back into work after the winter off, building muscle and his price will increase with additional training.
