Listing on behalf of owners: Meet Jazzman! Jazz is an 18.1 hand 2200lbs golden retriever, whoops, I mean, Belgian draft. Out of pulling lines on one side of his pedigree and show lines on the other, Jazz has magnificent floaty gaits and a lighter build. Jazz’s owners and I are looking for a unicorn home for this sweet and goofy guy. In our hearts, we can see Jazz thriving in a draft horse savvy family whom have the ability and knowledge to continue his education. Only homes that can offer friends, freedom, and forage will be considered. Training/experience He is green-broke to ride and has been ground driven. He is proficient in his ground work. He shows great interest in liberty work (and is proficient in drive and draw, tracks nicely at the shoulder, and has been introduced to circles). Jazz will require an experienced hand; experienced in not only horses, but draft horses in particular. He is not dull, heavy, or slow to react; and certainly not a “husband horse” at this point in his life… Unless you arn't a fan of your husband or enjoy martial contention. I find he responds wonderfully to positive reinforcement and not only prefers, but REQUIRES someone who has timing and feel when training with pressure and release. So I’m going to say it again… we are looking for an EXPERIENCED home with EXPERIENCED, kind, ethical, and educated horseman. This is not because Jazz is dangerous, naughty, or lacking training; but rather, that I believe every horse should be given the opportunity to succeed, and for Jazz, this means the above. Jazz requires a consistent trim schedule from a draft knowledgeable farrier (he is done on the ground, not in stocks). In order to keep Jazz comfortable during the summer months, he receives an antihistamine and fly spray daily to avoid reactions to bug bites. Jazz is UTD on vaccines, dental, and farrier work. Should you be interested in learning more about Jazz, please feel free to reach out. Owners are requesting a site visit as well as vet, and farrier references from serious parties. Jazz will leave on a contract, as we are looking for a long term home and to stay involved as much as his future owner may need to ensure his success. Special consideration given to homes interested in both him and “Maggie”, an AQHA mare listed above.
