Eyed Take Rooster, “Ace” is a 7 year old big SOLID 15.3 Bay Gelding with big bone and TONS of athleticism! That being said, this is one of those “Honest Ads.” You know that friend of yours that is a great listener, has your back and has a good heart but they have social anxiety and would rather drink beer on the back porch than go to the bar? That’s Ace…. I personally love this horse. I am just his agent but have ridden him quite a bit and find him to be one of the coolest horses I’ve swung my leg over. He has NEVER bucked or reared with me and is always willing and hard working. He is sensitive to pressure and is definitely a “less is more” kind of horse. He’ll read your energy quicker than a QVC Psychic. He would make an incredible head horse, ranch trail, ranch horse, all around horse…Though bred for barrels he doesn’t love them. Now the fun part… His owner has not experienced the same with him. He has bucked and reared with her when hauled to events and because he is a big strong horse, she’s lost her heart to try to work him through this. I’ll start with the Pros: Ace is the first one to meet you at the gate and comes in to a whistle. He will stand tied all day and is not herd bound. He’s soft in the face, rides off your seat and legs, has a gorgeous smooth stride, side passes, spins, soft through the ribcage, takes his leads, trots and lopes around on a soft rein, neck reins, has a fantastic stop, rides out alone or in a group, trailers well, trail rides, knows the barrel pattern and has been lightly run, has had a rope swung on him, etc… He has had 60 days of ranch miles, 90 days with a barrel trainer and lots more experienced miles put on him. Cons: Ace doesn’t handle overstimulating situations. Every time he has fallen apart it’s been when there is too much going on around him and he just loses his head. Big races, lots of energy and busy arenas are NOT HIS THING! He has bucked and reared (never high) in these situations. He requires some maintenance, (Hock injections). He’s a herd boss. He can be watchy. This horse is NOT a “kids horse” unless your kid is currently paying the bills with their equine prowess. He is NOT a “husband horse” unless your husband is the kind of man who doesn’t need a husband horse! He is NOT a “gramma horse” unless your gramma grew up riding with Billy the Kid and Annie Oakley. Think Ferrari when you think of Ace. He has buttons, gears and a whole lot of horsepower. He’s a finely tuned machine and he doesn’t take kindly to having his gears jammed. If you don’t know how to whisper with your hands and seat, he probably isn’t for you. He needs a soft hand and a confident attitude and someone who KNOWS how to drive a performance motor. Current on everything. 6 panel clean by parentage. PPE welcome at buyers expense.
