I purchased Malakai three years ago for my eventing future. He was started as a dressage horse and owned by a friend of mine for his first years. I met him as a baby and I can tell you that he has always been the sweetest horse and there was always something extra special about him. He was started as a dressage horse, and probably has the best movement of any horse I have seen. His first year with me we did a lot of dressage schooling shows and he did amazing and always scored really well. He has competed through first level, and has a solid dressage foundation. when he started his jump training, it was effortless and he came along really well. He is a point-and-shoot ride in the arena and doesn’t like to touch the rails. Most xc obstacles were handled with ease as well. It seemed as the jumps got higher, it was just easy. Malakai has so much room to grow. He did really well at eventing schooling shows even winning multiple outings. He started the 2024 show season, beginner novice, and placed second at his first recognized event, which was EI. But after that show, he started exhibiting issues with the water and it got worse each show despite taking him to different venues and schooling water everywhere we could go. I sent him to training over the winter for 90 days with a upper level trainer and by the time I picked him up, he was confidently going through water. Malakai is filled with potential, but he does have some baggage. Most rides he is perfect, but there is the occasional spook and although mostly he just turns away quickly he has reared a handful of times. He has done best in full work and consistency, and with a confident rider. He does require maintenance, which reflects his price as well. He has a couple areas on the left side of his neck that are within normal limits, but there is thickening in those areas and he has been injected which helped a lot, as well as hock injections. He also walks with a step out on the ground, but when he is put together under saddle, tracks normal behind. I have had him checked by vets and tested for neuro issues with records to share, I can also put you in contact with his old owner, or vets for any interested parties. For the last few months, I stopped riding and he has been leased out by a Hunter Rider and has been going great but due to her busy schedule, the lease will end soon, so he needs to find a new home as we are not the right fit, and I do not have the time he requires to excel. This horse is the best mover I have ever seen, so fun to ride, but does require a experience Rider, and I am satisfied after having him checked out by multiple veterinarians that he is suitable for a sport horse career or dressage. The ideal home would be someone who is experienced and understands his quirks and that he needs maintenance and accepts him for what he is. All medical records are available that I have and he also comes with references from professionals., farriers, and vets. Looking for the perfect fi
