📍 Central Point, Oregon $2,500 Hazel is a sorrel Quarter Horse mare, estimated by the vet to be between 8–10 years old, standing about 14hh. She’s barefoot, kept on a regular trim schedule, and has four flashy white socks with light roaning/speckling across her back. She is broke to ride, halter broke, loads, ties, stands for the farrier, and loves a good grooming session. She is registered, but her papers were misplaced by a previous owner — a vet can pull blood to help verify her identity if you’d like to have them reissued. When I purchased Hazel, I was told she was a finished 3D/4D barrel horse suitable for OHSET. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. While it was disappointing to learn she isn’t at that level, I do believe she has plenty of potential in the right hands. With consistent training, she could make a great trail partner, gaming horse, or even work toward being a rodeo mount someday. Hazel has a strong mare personality. She can be opinionated, dominant, and will test her handler. She hasn’t bucked or reared, but she may toss her head (possibly bit-related), back up to avoid work, or be challenging to catch. At times she’s displayed chasing or nipping behavior, particularly toward unsure handlers. She’s not a horse for beginners — she requires someone confident, experienced, and consistent who can set boundaries and stick to them. She can get buddy sour but usually settles down when working alone. She’s a bit wary of water but improves with patience and exposure. Once she bonds with you, she’s attentive, willing, and very smart — she just needs the right rider to bring out her best. If you think you could be the right match for Hazel, I’m happy to share more details and answer questions. Serious inquiries only, please.
